The award has proved to be widely successful as it was recognized by international observers and was testified by leading researchers vying for the award.  This success reflects on the foundation’s international reputation and its high scientific credibility and level of performance.

The Award’s role has been expanded to reach new fields aiming at boosting the development procedures in all aspects of the medical field. In this context, the Award set a system to honor the distinct working parties in academic and therapeutic scopes alongside with medical and humanitarian services.
The Award puts into consideration all who are contributing in alleviating the patients' suffering and caring about the society health through diversity of the awards’ categories globally, regionally and locally in addition to establishing mechanisms that contribute to develop the continuing medical education programs through managing and sponsoring several medical conferences and training programs.  
 
The Award is adding new activities as issuing valuable medical publications, one of the important issues is launching Hamdan Medical Journal (HMJ) which is a periodical specialized medical and scientific journal covering all the health and medical fields through the printed and electronic issues. 
In 2003, the Award established the Centre for Arab Genomic Studies (CAGS), the only center in the region responsible for establishing the largest database of genetic diseases in the Arab world. Also the center is making strenuous efforts to draw the genetic map of the Arab World which is considered a dream of the international and Arab scientific communities.
That clearly indicates the comprehensive insight of H. H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, that believes in the positive competition through these awards is an important mean to reach international academic capabilities and play a leading role in the knowledge revolution emerged from advanced researches activities and permanent communication for exchanging experiences in the fields of medicine, science and technology worldwide.
