The Award has established the Research Center in line with its mission to provide the optimal support for the Medical field, and to enrich the scientific research in the UAE. The center set up the standards to offer the researchers the required financial and scientific resources to help them conduct research. It follows the guidelines for research funding and project selection processes, besides it has a distinguished scientific committee that cooperates with eminent external referees, the thing that encouraged young researchers to improve their skills and expand their potentials to fill the gaps in researches in UAE.

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award has allocated 2.5 million AED to fund 15 scientific research projects from UAE University, Sharjah University, New York Abu Dhabi University, DHA and MBRU. This brings the total number of projects to have received support and/or funding from the Award since its establishment in 1999 to around 700.
