The Award is offering all financial and logistics facilities to support the scientific research process in the UAE through establishing the Research Support Center, including a selection of the best specialists, who are studying all the requests, arranging the awarding process, following up procedure of scientific research directions and recognizing scientific results for all the researches issued by educational institutions and research centers which will enrich scientific research and fill the gaps of the medical science studies and researches in UAE.

Today, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences (HMA) has concluded its awareness campaign on rare diseases. Under the slogan "With Research, Possibilities are Limitless", the awareness campaign was organized throughout this week in the emirates of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah.
Within its one-week awareness campaign on rare diseases, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences organized a series of educational lectures over two days for male and female students of 13 secondary schools in Sharjah, Ras Al-Khaimah, and Al-Ain.
A delegation from the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences (HMA) has participated in the "Regulation of Scientific Research Forum" organized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the headquarter of the ministry in Abu Dhabi, and headed by Dr. Husam al Ulama, the Director of the Scientific Research Department.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences invites applications for funding scientific medical projects from the United Arab Emirates, for its 9th term 2015-2016.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences has allocated AED 2 million to fund 14 scientific projects from the United Arab Emirates University, University of Sharjah, Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research, Zayed University, and the UAE Ministry of Health. This brings the total number of the studies funded by the award, since its establishment in 1999 until now, to reach 99.
The United Arab Emirates University honored the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences in recognition of the award’s efforts in supporting many activities of the University such as the scientific research, the continuing medical education programs in addition to the medical publishing for studies conducted by the students in special supplements in the Hamdan Medical Journal.
Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences participated in the Graduate Studies Research & Open Day organized by the College of Graduate Studies in the UAE University, at the Great Hall, main campus, Al Ain, in the presence of Prof. Sehamuddin Galadari, Chairman of the award’s Medical Research Committee and Prof. Frank Christopher Howarth, a committee member.
A study supported by a grant from Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences showed that sucrose-enriched diet compromises contraction and calcium transport and alters the expression of genes encoding a variety of cardiac muscle proteins in diabetic heart.
A study supported by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences entitled "Skills for Change: Implementation of a Community-based Diabetes Nutrition Education Program for Emirati Adults with Type 2 Diabetes” has reached the conclusion of the importance of the availability of dietitians and gyms in the UAE diabetes clinics.
