Dubai-September 23, 2022: The activities of the Seventh Middle East International Dermatology & ‎Aesthetic Medicine Conference & Exhibition “MEIDAM” kicked off on the 22nd of September in Dubai, ‎in the presence of Dr. Younis Kazim, H.E. Mirza Al Sayegh and 2,200 doctors and specialists from ‎different countries around the world.‎
Dr. Khaled Al-Nuaimi, the conference’s president, said that the “MEIDAM” conference has become, ‎within 7 years since its first launch, one of the most important and largest conferences in dermatology, ‎attended by representatives from global health and some of the most prominent heads of ‎dermatological societies in the world, pointing out that the conference will witness over its duration ‎‎183 In addition to 54 scientific workshops by 207 local, regional and international lecturers in 6 parallel ‎scientific programs, during which methods of treatments, medication, medical device and medical ‎researchers were launched.‎
Dr. Khaled Al-Nuaimi also stated that the first training program organized by the Middle East ‎International Dermatology & Aesthetic Medicine Conference & Exhibition “MEIDAM” was held for ‎doctors trained in dermatology from all Arab countries, in coordination with the directors of official ‎training programs in their countries, and supported their training to provide them with scientific skills in ‎injection procedures to encourage generations coming. ‎
He pointed out that the conference allocated a part of its income to support the humanitarian efforts ‎of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, as part of the giving initiative of the ‎‎"MEIDAM" organization and to encourage a culture of giving in the region.‎
H.E. Abdulla Bin Souqat, Executive Director of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for ‎Medical Sciences, gave a keynote speech in which he stressed that the interest in advancing scientific ‎research and continuing medical education in the medical sector comes at the top of the priorities of ‎the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences. This interest translates into a ‎set of activities and events carried out by the award through its five centers, including the Awards ‎Center, the Center for Scientific Research Support, the Arab Center for Genetic Studies, the Center for ‎Publications and Publishing, and the Center for Continuing Medical Education.‎
He explained that the award's Continuing Medical Education Center is considered one of the most ‎important centers that contributed in its efforts to establish the ingredients necessary to improve ‎health services provided through continuing medical education programs in health institutions.‎
Houssam Chahine, UNHCR's UNHCR’s Chief of Private Sector Partnerships in the MENA region, stated ‎that there are more than 100 million people around the world who have been forced to flee their ‎homes due to war, persecution, human rights violations and the effects of climate change. This ‎shocking figure should serve as a wake-up call and a reminder of the need to resolve destructive ‎conflicts and confront the causes that force innocent people to leave their homes in search of security ‎and peace.‎
He pointed out that two-thirds of the forcibly displaced people come from only five countries: Syria, ‎Venezuela, Afghanistan, South Sudan and Myanmar. They live with daily challenges and harsh living ‎conditions and struggle to provide their families with basic requirements such as shelter, education, ‎health care and livelihood opportunities.‎
The right to health care is a right that everyone should have, and one of the basic requirements to ‎enable refugees to rebuild their lives. UNHCR supports public health programs to provide primary ‎health, nutritional and psychological services, improve the quality of local health services and ensure ‎the integration of refugees into national health systems. Note that the vast majority of refugees ‎‎(about 83%) are hosted by low/middle-income countries.‎
He added that there is an urgent need to find innovative and sustainable solutions to support these ‎refugees with great generosity.‎
In turn, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari, the Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, World Health ‎organization - Eastern Mediterranean Regional office, confirmed that the MEIDAM conference turned ‎out to be one of the most influential gatherings of dermatologists around the world.‎
He said in the Post-Covid Era, we all live in a new world full of challenges and opportunities, a world ‎that rewards only creative and intelligent individuals, those who strive to improve the future with ‎innovative ideas and developments. ‎
For this reason, we celebrate with you the excellent progress we have made on our most important ‎initiative, the launch of the MEIDAM Association, which began in 2021. ‎
The association’s committees are now complete and led by senior experts working together day and ‎night to improve the work of the association. To achieve our scientific, educational and humanitarian ‎goals.‎
Then Dr. Moayed Al Yazachi from Iraq was selected for the Pioneer Award by the conference for his ‎contribution over six decades to the development and improvement of the field of dermatology and ‎venereology with hundreds of published research papers and unique scientific achievements, to ‎finally be recognized as one of the greatest experts worldwide.‎
