Mohammed Al-Jarallah elected President of the Islamic Organization for Health Sciences 10 September 2019
Dubai-10th September 2019: The Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences participated in the meeting of the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences in Kuwait to elect the President of the organization, successor to the late Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Awadi, the former head of the organization, who passed away last July.
 
The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Trustees, with the participation of Dr. Ahmed Al Hashimi, representative of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Award.
 
Dr. Al-Awadhi had been President of the organization since 1984, where the organization contributed to a comprehensive medical renaissance serving the Arab and Islamic world in upgrading the scientific, professional and ethical level of institutions and individuals alike, which reflected on the medical services provided to the Muslim and non-Muslim individual without any discrimination.
 
His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Jarallah, former Kuwaiti Minister of Health, is one of the most prominent doctors in the field of general surgery, where he had more than a dozen research projects in the field of cancer surgery. Dr. Al-Jarallah also played a pivotal role in shaping health care delivery policies during his ministry.
 
“The joint efforts between the Hamdan Medical award and the Organization started in 2015 with the aim of developing a general framework for cooperation in the interest of advancement of medical sectors in the Islamic countries, which made it occupy a prestigious global position to become the official spokesman in many international forums on the subject of "Islamic medical jurisprudence”, said His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al-Hashemi.
 
It is worth mentioning that the Hamdan Medical Award is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences. It has two seats represented by: HE Mirza Al Sayegh, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Award, and Dr. Ahmed Al Hashimi.
