In conjunction with its preparations for declaring the winners of the 8th term: Hamdan Medical Award launches its new official web site 14 October 2014

In conjunction with its preparations to announce the winners of the eighth term 2013-2014, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences launched its new official web site on www.hmaward.org.ae. The new web site supports the project of declaring Dubai as a Smart City within 3 years, when all services for the citizens and residents will be presented via the mobile phones and tablets.

This was stated by Prof. Najib Al Khaja, Secretary General of the Hamdan Medical Award. He said: I am so proud of the new web site, in form and substance, and its vital role in supporting communication with the public, particularly the healthcare professionals.

“Now, it is possible to contact with the centers of the award through the mobile phones or tablets in order to submit your requests for conferences support, medical research support or joining the training courses and workshops organized by the award”, Prof. Najib AL Khaja said.

“Additionally, it is possible to communicate with the award through its accounts on the social media networks such as the Face book, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Instagram to follow-up the news and comment on and share them with friends”, he added.

For his part, Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat, Executive Director of Hamdan Medical Award and the project manager, said that the new web site monitors an important part of the contemporary history of the United Arab Emirates. The achievements of the award are the fruits of its high-standard partnerships with the major international medical institutions and important personalities on the all medical and humanitarian levels.

“It took around two years to establish the new web site. We have collected all the   award’s written and electronic documents during the previous sixteen years, since its establishment in 1999 until now, and posted them appropriately on about 2,500 web pages to form a full archive covering its all activities, with photos and videos”, Abdullah Bin Souqat said.

“The new official web site contains six main sections, the first of which is entitled "profile" and includes extracts from the track record of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai UAE Minister of Finance and the Patron of the Award.  This section deals with H.H. Sheikh Hamdan activities in the services of humanity around the world in addition to his hobbies, initiatives, official positions, the certificates of appreciation and honor and latest news“, he added.

Also, this section deals with the Award’s vision, mission, objectives, board of trustees, organizational chart and memorabilia such as the award’s medal which entered the Guinness Book of Records in 2008 as the largest medal in the world, in addition to the award’s stamps issued from the Emirates Post and coins issued from the UAE Central Bank.

Besides the full information about the current term,  the "Awards Center” section reviews the previous terms including its main and sub scientific committees, awards ceremonies, Dubai International conferences for Medical Sciences, and winners.

Also, this section deals with the archive of the award, which is available as a link on the all pages of the new web site, including the topics of the previous terms and its advertising posters in addition to special pages for each winner about his career and the award he won.

Mr. Abdullah bin Souqat mentioned to the 3rd Section of the award’s new web site which includes a link to access the official website of the Center for Arab Genomic Studies, CAGS, and the catalogue of Transmission Genetics in Arabs (CTGA) Database. This section highlights the CAGS’ objectives, publications and latest news in addition to how to contact the center.

As for the fourth section, the "CME Center ", it allows the user to read about its activities, the scientific committee members, “contact us”, the latest news and the upcoming events within the UAE linked to the website of each one of them. Also, the user can download and submit the support application forms for the Continuing medical education activities.
