Under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences: The Arab Paediatric Medical Congress is held in Dubai 01 June 2014
Under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, the Arab Paediatric Medical Congress was held in Dubai (May 29-31) with the participation of a galaxy of regional and local experts, at Amwaj Rotana Hotel.
 
In his speech during the opening ceremony of the conference, Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat, Executive Director, Hamdan Medical Award, said: “Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences is composed of a number of interrelated centers whose activities aim at improving healthcare standard”. 
 
“Neonatal Medicine was one of the main subjects discussed at the Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences, and a special issue of Hamdan Medical Journal was published in December 2012 on neonatal medicine”, he added.  
 
“I take pride in mentioning the data contained within the Catalogue for Transmission Genetics in Arabs Database (CTGA), hosted by the Award’s Centre for Arab Genomic Studies, which lists over 1600 genetic and congenital disorders. It is well-known that Paediatrics plays a pivotal role in diagnosing and spotting these genetic disorders”, Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat said. 
 
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, Patron of the Award, for his continued support to all fields of healthcare. I would also like to thank the Ministry of Health- United Arab Emirates and everyone who has contributed to organizing and rendering this event a success, wishing you all a flourishing event and a pleasant stay in the Emirate of Dubai”, he added. 
 
 
It is worthy to mention that the 3-days conference discussed a number of important topics such as: Autism, nutrition of neonates, clinical managing for paediatric heart disease and use of antibiotics. 
 
Also, the conference was supported by a number of leading medical authorities such as The Health Ministers’ Council for GCC States, Saudi Paediatric Association, Dubai Healthcare City, American hospital –Dubai, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, one of the top ten paediatric hospitals in the United States, and others.
