Completion of 2 research papers supported by SHAMS 18 September 2011
Dr. Seham Al Dien Kaladari, Chairman of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences’ research support Committee (whose mission is to evaluate submitted research projects), announcd that 2 research papers which have been supported by the award have been finalized.
 
“ the first research is by Professor Chris Howarth, Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University, entitled “ Remodeling of calcium transport proteins underlies cardiac muscle dysfunction in the Zucker diabetic fatty rat”, he said.
 
“As for the second research it is by Dr. Sawsan Al Kawas associate professor and head of Oral and craniofacial Health sciences at college of dentistry, Sharjah University, on the analysis of mercury concentration in the waste water released from dental clinics and its diverse effect on environment in UAE”, Dr. kaladari added.
 
He said that SHAMS is proud of that achievement, and the results of these two papers are scheduled to be published on the journal of Medical Sciences (JMS), issued by the award, to be available to all countries all over the world in order to promote health services provided to patients.
 
Recently, the Award announced the end of December as the deadline for receiving research projects within UAE, as part of the award’s program to support medical research papers within UAE in its 7TH term 2011-2012.
 
It should be noted that, since the establishment of the Award in 1999 until now the award has supported 65 scientific research papers, from which 58 research papers were finalized and hailed by all members of medical community inside and outside UAE.
