Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Makotum: UAE Cancer Congress 2011 starts tomorrow in Dubai 05 October 2011
Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Makotum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of Dubai Health Authority, UAE Cancer Congress 2011 will be inaugurated tomorrow at Grand Hyatt, Dubai, under the title “Promoting Excellence in Oncology”.
 
The 3 days conference is organized by Dubai Health Authority and Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Makotum Award for Medical Sciences.The congress aims at promoting the principle of multidisciplinary care of patients suffering from cancer, enhanced with the principles of evidence based medicine.Dr. Shaheenah Dawood, Congress President and Head of Medical Oncology, Dubai Hospital, said that the congress includes 13 sessions and 38 lectures for 40 keynote speakers from Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Belgium, Georgia, India, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Morocco and Nigeria.
 
“The congress will discuss various Oncology specialties such as Breast Cancer, Lymphoma, Colon Cancer, Cervical Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Endometrial Cancer, and Brain Tumors. 3 workshops will be held on surgical oncology and palliative care in addition to the publication workshop on clinical trials”, she said. “The scientific program is well organized and includes debate sessions with senior doctors from ME, Europe and North America such as Prof. Gonzalez Angulo, George Blumenschein, Jatin Shah, Giorgio Scagliotti, Jean-Yves Douillard, Ana Maria, Hamdi Abdel Azim and Mohamed Jalodi”, she added. It is worthy to mention that the opening ceremony will witness the declaration of the winners of the best abstracts submitted to the congress. Research and fellowship grants will be presented to the winners.
