Chaired by H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais, the UAE Minister of Health and Prevention: The Board of Trustees of Hamdan Medical Award reviews the candidates to win the 9th term 03 October 2016
The Board of Trustees of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences reviewed the preparations for the award ceremony to honor the winners of the 9th term 2015-2016 on December 14. Also, the board members were briefed on the procedures taken to hold the 9th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences from 14 till 16 of December on Gastroenterology. 
 
The meeting was chaired by H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais, the Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees and the UAE Minister of Health and Prevention, and attended by H.E. Humaid Al Qatami, Deputy Chairman of the Board of trustees and the Chairman and Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, Prof. Najib Al Khaja, the Secretary General, Dr. Abdullah Al Khayat, Dr. Al Said Jafar Al Said Mohammed, Dr. Ahmed al-Hashimi, and Abdullah bin Souqat.
 
During the meeting, the members of the board of trustees reviewed the names of the candidates to win the International awards, the Arab World Awards, and the UAE awards. Also, the board has given its directives to submit the winners’ file to the patron of the award, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the UAE Minister of Finance, for approval in order to go ahead to announce the winners as soon as possible.
 
On the other side, in the light of the vision of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum to support and develop the medical sector locally, regionally and globally, H.E. Humaid Al Qatami reviewed the main features of the proposed strategy for the Award 2016 - 2021. 
 
The strategy is based on an accurate diagnosis for the award’s status quo, with a highlight on the most important challenges, prospects of success, and the accelerated developments in the medical and health arena in the UAE, particularly in Dubai.
 
The strategy assures the award’s status as an integral part of the health system, and a partner with the official institutions to implement the UAE National Agenda 2021, the Strategy of the UAE Ministry of Health 2014 - 2016, the Dubai Plan 2021, alongside with the strategy of the Dubai Health Authority 2016 - 2021.
