H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, received Professor Peter Fitzgerald Dorman, the President of the American University of Beirut. They reviewed a number of educational issues such as the challenges in the higher education sector and the impact of the new technologies in developing the methods of teaching and curricula in the Arab region.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the ways of cooperation between the university and both the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance and the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences. Professor Dorman praised the keenness of the awards on encouraging the research activities with the aim of developing the quality of education and health care services for the all mankind.

Professor Dorman hailed the efforts by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum in developing the fields of sciences and education within the UAE through these international awards.
