A delegation from the Positive Cancer paid a visit to the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences to discuss the ways of enhancing the mutual cooperation, particularly with the Award’s Center for Arab Genomic Studies, in the field of raising the community awareness towards Cancers within the United Arab Emirates.

Form the Award, the meeting was attended by Dr. Shereen Hamada, Senior scientific coordinator, Dr. Abdul Rezzak Hamzeh, Senior scientific coordinator, the Award’s Center for Arab Genomic Studies, and Mrs. Amany Al Okda, the Media Center. Also, from the Positive Cancer foundation, Ms. Reem Al Buainain, Executive Director, and Mrs. Salwa Al Rahma, a member, participated in the meeting.

The discussions reviewed the role of the Positive Cancer foundation in raising the awareness among the various segments of the society towards Cancers through the implementation of several interactive activities within the UAE. Such activities promote the preventive ways from the disease on the ground and lay sound basics for dealing with patients with cancers, either by physicians, community members or patients’ families with the aim of creating an appropriate environment for positive coexistence with the disease.

Also, the attendees discussed the ways of enhancing the cooperation between the Centre for Arab Genomic Studies and Cancer Foundation, through presenting the results of CAGS’ studies about Cancers to the community members through the campaigns organized by the foundation within the UAE.
