Prof. Najib Al Khaja, Secretary General of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, met with the heads and members of the Award’s scientific committees to review the action plans for the 8th term 2013-2014. The meeting was attended by Prof. Yusuf Abdul Razzak, Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Award, Prof. Seham Aldien Galadari, Chairman of the Research Support Committee and Abdullah bin Souqat, Executive Director of the Award at Ayla Hotel, Al Ain.

Al Khaja welcomed the heads and members of the committees; including a galaxy of physicians and specialists from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University, Tawam hospital, Dubai Hospital and Al Qasimi Hospital. He wished them all the success in selecting the winners of the Awards, in cooperation with the committee of the international arbitrators. Also, he thanked the members and chairmen of the scientific committees of the Awards in the previous term who worked neutrally and transparently, in line with the global prestigious status of the award among the medical community.

It is worth mentioning that in the recent term of the Award 2013-2014, Drug Discovery is the topic of Grand Hamdan International Award, and Vaccines, Targeted Therapy and Cell Therapy are the topics of Hamdan International Award for Medical Research Excellence.

Concerning the International Category, Prof. Sherif Karam is the chairman of the Scientific Committees of Grand Hamdan Award, and Prof. Youssef Abdul Razzaq, Dr Abdu Adam, Prof. Salim Bastaki, Dr. Syed Salman Ashraf and Dr. Ayman Al-Rahmani are the members. 
The scientific committee of Hamdan International Award for Medical Research Excellence is chaired by Prof. Salah Gariballah and includes three committees. The members of the 1st committee, on vaccines, include Prof. Tahir Rizvi, Dr. Ian Blair, Dr. Farah Mustafa and Dr. Khan Gelovaraz as members. Also, the members of the 2nd committee, on Targeted Therapy, are Prof. Tom Adrian, Dr. Sohail Salam, Dr. Samir Attoub and Dr. Ragheb Ali. The members of the scientific committee of the award, on Cell Therapy, are Prof. Ernest Adeghate, Prof. Sherif Karam, Dr. Inaam Bashir and Prof. Tahir Rizvi.

The scientific Committee of Hamdan Award for Volunteers in Humanitarian Medical Services is chaired by Prof. Salim Bastaki, with the membership of Prof. Eric Mensah-Brown, Dr. Maria Cabezudo, Dr. Samir Attoub and Dr. Gulfaraz Khan.

Concerning the Scientific Committee of the Arab world Awards, it is chaired by Dr. Saad Ghazal Aswad and includes the scientific committee of Hamdan Award for the best medical college, institute or department in the Arab world with the membership of Prof. Abdu Adam, Dr. Fawaz Torab, Dr. Shamsa Alawar, Dr. Juma Al Kaabi, Dr. Fatima Al Maskari and Dr. Leena Amiri.

The scientific committee of the awards of the United Arab Emirates is chaired by Prof. Frank Branka, including Hamdan Award for an outstanding Clinical department in the Public sector in the UAE. The members of the scientific committee of this award are Dr. Moza Alsharhan and Dr. Hatem Ahmed Abu Ghoneim Abbas. Also, the Scientific Committee of Hamdan Award for the Best Scientific Research Published in the Hamdan Medical Journal is headed by Prof. Omar Al Agnaf with the membership of Prof. Youssef Abdul Razzaq, Prof. Abdul Qadir Al Souid, Prof. Christopher Howarth and Omran Bakoush.
