Nawal Al Kaabi is a pediatrician and infectious diseases consultant. She has been the Chair of the SEHA infectious diseases and infection Control council since 2012, the Chair of the National Covid-19 Clinical Management Committee since 2020, and the Chair of the International Patient Care Committee, DOH, since 2017. She was the Chief Medical Officer at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City from 2017 to 2022. She was the Chairperson of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group MOH, UAE, until 2016 and its vice-chairperson since 2017.

Recently, she became a senior consultant to UAE-based biotechnology "Hayat Biotech," a joint venture between UAE-based artificial intelligence and cloud computing company G42 and Chinese pharmaceuticals company Sinopharm CNBG.

She graduated from the United Arab Emirates University and was certified as a Fellow in Pediatrics at the Royal College of Physicians in Canada and Pediatric Infectious Disease. Dr. Al Kaabi completed an Infection Control Fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, University of Ottawa, Canada. She is an American Board Certified in Pediatrics, Quality, and global research by Harvard University. She also has a Certified Physician certificate from the American Association for Physician Leadership, USA.

Al Kaabi's main interests are childhood issues, Vaccination, Infection Control, Clinical trials, Research, and Medical Education. She is the Principal Investigator of multiple clinical trials; the phase III clinical trial to evaluate the safety and protective efficacy of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in the healthy population aged 18 years and above and the Principal Investigator of the Sinopharm immune bridge study for children.

In 2021, Dr. Al Kaabi was the first Emirati to receive the Chinese Government's Friendship Award, the highest award established by the Chinese government to commend foreign experts.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions towards medical services and fighting Covid-19, Dr. Nawal Al Kaabi is awarded the Hamdan Award for Honoring Individuals Working in Medicine & Health for the 2021-2022 term.
