Hamdan Medical Award organizes the 3RD Emirates Hematology Conference 08 March 2013
On behalf of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of Dubai Health Authority, H.E. Engineer Essa Al Maidour, Director General of Dubai Health Authority and the Deputy of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, opened the 3rd Emirates Hematology Conference, organized by the Award in collaboration with the Dubai Health Authority and the Emirates society of Hematology at the Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina with the participation of more than 500 doctors, nurses and specialists from 7 to 9 March.
 
Dr. Ahmed Al Hashimi, a member of the Board of Trustees, and Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat, Executive Director, Hamdan Medical Award, attended the Opening Ceremony during which H.E. Eng. Essa Al Maidour delivered a speech. "Despite the big efforts exerted by the UAE health authorities and civil society institutions, about 40% of the Emiratis suffer from the genetic and non-genetic blood diseases such as Thalassemia and Anemia. Also, Lymphoma and Leukemia occupies the 4th place in the UAE Cancers’ record. The UAE health authorities have to take all the necessary measures to confront to all of these diseases which have a big economic burden on families and health authorities", Al Maidoor said.
 
"The progress achieved in the diagnosis and treatment of blood diseases all over the world makes us keen to take advantages of that event and the results of the studies the conference dealt with by a group of doctors, experts and specialists, in order to improve the services provided to patients in the health institutions", he added. 
 
On the other side, Dr. Asma Al Olama, the President of the conference and chairman of the Emirates society of Hematology, confirmed through her speech on the importance of the conference which is considered a good opportunity for the professionals working in that field to know the latest global developments and the best practices used in the diagnosis and treatment of Blood diseases.
 
"The conference, in which a group of prominent lecturers participate from the United States of America, the United Kingdom and France, is endorsed by the International Society on Thrombosis and Hematology, and the European Hematology Association", she said.
 
"The 3-day conference discusses more than 90 studies from 30 countries on the diagnostic and therapeutic developments in the field of blood diseases. The participants will receive 14.5 credit hours accredited from the European Hematology Association", she added.
 
Then, Engineer Essa Al Maidour opened the accompanied exhibition participated by 22 companies.
