Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum: Hamdan Medical Award is to open the 2ND Arab Neonatal Congress tomorrow 06 March 2013
Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the 2nd Arab Neonatal Congress will be opened tomorrow at JW Marriott Marquis, Dubai, under the theme "Brighter and better tomorrow". The conference is organized by Hamdan Medical Award (HMA) and supported by UAE Ministry of Health and DHA. 
 
29 keynote speakers from Australia, United States of America, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, England, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Egypt will participate in the 3-day conference, in addition to more than 350 local, regional and international doctors and healthcare professionals. Also, 20 companies will participate in the accompanied exhibition. 
 
Dr. Khaled El-Atawi, the president of the conference and Specialist Senior Registrar Neonatology and Clinical Quality Specialist in Latifa Hospital referred to the conference as one of the most important events for regional specialized doctors as it provides 55 accredited CME hours from Dubai Health Authority and the British Academy of Continuous Medical Education by attending 9 scientific sessions, 36 lectures and 7 workshops.
 
"The conference aims at briefing the specialists on the latest global developments while dealing with the premature babies, especially in the first hours after birth. Yesterday, on the sidelines of the conference, an advanced neonatal echocardiography workshop was held at Latifa Hospital to train neonatologists on the basic use of ultrasound of the heart (ECHO) to assess the cardiac function. 20 doctors from UAE, Oman, Syria and Palestine attended the workshop conducted by Dr. Martin Kluckow from Australia in collaboration with Dr. Shahraban Abdullah consultant pediatric cardiology, Latifa hospital, Dr. Philippa Ramsey and Dr.Haitham Talo consultant pediatric cardiology at Sheikh Khalifa Medical Centre, Abu Dhabi, and Dr. Samir Sajwani consultant pediatric cardiology, Latifa hospital", Dr. El-Atawi said. 
 
"Today, an advanced neonatal ventilation workshop was held in Rashid Hospital Medical Library. The workshop dealt with the challenges in the treatment of respiratory problems in the newborn using the latest advances in the mechanical ventilation modes. 70 doctors from The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Syria and Palestine participated in the workshop moderated by Dr. Peter Rimensberger, the head of neonatal intensive care and pediatrics in University Hospital of Geneva and Dr. Layla Matar, Head of Pediatric department, Consultant Neonatologist of Dubai Hospital", he added.
