Dubai – Tuesday, January 22, 2013 –Secretary General of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, Professor Najib Al Khaja, announced that Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences will be the sponsor of the 1st race of the 7th Horse Racing Festival, Zabeel Race, to be held on next Friday under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, President of Dubai Health Authority and Parton of the Award at Jebel Ali Racecourse.

 

It was stated in the press conference that was held at Majlis Hall in Jebel Ali Racecourse for announcing the detailed preparations of such race in the presence of their main sponsors: the Director of the OfficeofHis Highness Sheikh Hamdan binRashid Al Maktoum, Mr. Miraz Al Sayegh, the Manager of Jebel Ali Racecourse, Mr. Sharif Al Halawani, as well as the representative of Newbury Racecourse, Britain, and the representative of Marsh Insurance.

 

In the press conference Prof. Al Khaja expressed his pride that one of the races of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum would have the name of the Award for Medical Sciences which was one of his significant achievements in supporting the health sectors and developing the medical practices and services since its establishment by him in 1999 up till now and which experienced a significant breakthrough in supporting the medical activities nationally and internationally.

 

Prof. Al Khaja added that His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum had many and various activities in all fields of health, education and culture by which he targeted for upgrading the individuals and society by way of his generous support for such services nationally, regionally and globally. He mentioned the sports field, especially horse riding, as one of the most favored and loved sports by His Highness; being always keen for encouraging the individuals and institutions of the society in getting involved therein whether by exercising or following up them by way of attending the races which were organized according to the latest global systems followed in such field

 

Prof. Al Khaja said that horse riding was one of the most important heritage milestones of the UAE authentic society. The Hamdan Medical Award was interested in supporting the UAE heritage by way of participating in one of the most important sports events held in the state out of its national duty towards the society. It worked on upgrading the society in all fields, particularly that encouraging the practice of the sports activities was one of the most significant elements that one needed to enjoy good health and permanent vigors. "A sound mind in a healthy body", he said. He stated that a country would not have a strong, safe and sound generation, unless it paid attention to sports which elevated the soul and helped in developing the mental and physical skills.

 

Prof. Al Khaja stated that following up such races by all segments of the society was significant; as it would foster the social relationships of the families, especially in public holidays which were a good opportunity for the family members to share a common hobby loved by all of them in a special family atmosphere. To prove his words, he pointed out that most of the audience of the races of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum were families, in general, and UAE families, in particular.

 

Prof. Al Khaja extended his thanks to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum for granting his precious trust to the Award and those in charge of it. He wished success for the race, as usual for the horse races of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum where the most expensive and the best types of Arabian horses in the world would always take part.
