13th Annual Case-Based Approach to Controversies in Cardiovascular Diseases Takes Place Under the Patronage of the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences

Under the patronage of the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences and in scientific cooperation with the Gulf Heart Association, the 13th Annual Case Based Approach to Controversies in Cardiovascular Diseases kicked off its activities in Dubai today. The conference will be held for two days, from March 18th and 19th, 2023 at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences.
This conference aims to consolidate the principle of interest in developing medical cadres and creating an incubator for experts and specialists in an effort to develop health services provided to all segments of society. One of the most important features of this conference is its presentation of all topics in the form of realistic cases, which encourages participation and dialogue among members.
Talking about the conference program, Dr. Wael Al Mahmeed, President of the conference said, "The list of speakers at the conference includes a number of specialists from Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic in the United States of America, and a group of prominent doctors in cardiovascular specialties from within the country. Among the most prominent topics that will be discussed during the conference are the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, as well as in cases of dysfunction of the left ventricle and associated with multiple vascular diseases, reviews of current recommendations for the use of anticoagulants and antiplatelets in various pathological conditions, such as atrial fibrillation, islet thrombosis, and heart attacks, and the role of preventive cardiology and emerging treatments for blood lipid disorders.”
He pointed that the conference will discuss new therapeutic interventions and their results in cases of heart disease, by presenting the cases of mitral reflux patients and evaluating different treatment methods using surgery or others. It will also discuss the results and complications resulting from the replacement of the aortic valve by catheter and valve implants or the use of the mitral valve clip. The conference will also focus on how to treat heart failure cases and the role of the medical teams' approach in dealing with these cases, in addition to electrophysiology and pacemakers, as well as in cases of early ventricular systole, he added.
On his part, His Excellency Abdullah bin Sougat, Executive Director of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, said that the Award follows the path of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum in supporting continuing medical education and medical conferences, especially those that benefit the local doctors in particular, and doctors in the Arab region in general.
It is worth noting that among the important cases that will be discussed are peripheral vascular diseases, as well as the carotid and coronary arteries, with a focus on valve diseases and presenting some cases related to congenital diseases related to the circulatory system.
