Hamdan Medical to Host the Second in the 12th Term Webinar Winners’ Series.

The Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences will continue the activities of its webinar series for the winners of the 12th term, through its second webinar, which will be held on Wednesday, 15th of March 2023 at 7:00 PM UAE time. The webinar will discuss the topic " Antibody Evasion Properties of SARS-CoV-2 Variants" and will feature a talk by Prof. David Ho, Professor of Medicine and the Founding Scientific Director of the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Prof. Ho was the winner of the Hamdan Award for Medical Research Excellence on the topic of immunity in the 12th term of the Award.
The webinar will be chaired by Prof. Taher Rizvi, Professor of Molecular Virology at UAE University, Director of the Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan Center for Health Sciences and Member of the Mohamed bin Rashid Academy of Scientists.
The Award initiated the series in February through a webinar that discussed the successful elimination of Group A Meningococcal Meningitis from Sub-Saharan Africa. This webinar featured Prof. LaForce, the recipient of the Hamdan Award for Medical Research Excellence on the topic of prevention of infectious diseases, and was attended by close to 900 professionals from various health sectors.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Souqat, Executive Director of the Award, expressed his happiness with the results of the first webinar, and stressed the importance of continuing to organize such important events to build the vision of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which contributes greatly to the advancement of the medical sector and follow-up with the latest developments in the field of scientific research.
