The 8th Emirate International Orthopaedic Congress was launched.. 27 February 2020
His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Bin Kalban, CEO, Specialized Healthcare Services Sector in the Dubai Health Authority, inaugurated yesterday the activities of the eighth Emirates International Orthopaedic Congress with the participation of more than 750 doctors and specialists from 24 countries.
 
His Excellency Dr. Ahmed said that congress continued its successes year after year with the presence of this group of scientists, doctors and specialists, inside and outside the state, and this, without a doubt, made the congress an important opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences and successful experiences. Standing on these medical developments around the world is one of the most important medical specialties, which today, there is an increasing demand for its services.
 
He explained that the world has witnessed important transformations and leaps in the health field, and in various related fields, including the rapid development in technologies and smart solutions, academic sciences, research and studies, as well as protocols of professional practices.
Orthopaedics has had the bigger share in this development and progress, as it has become among the largest medical specializations that have acquired technology, techniques and artificial intelligence.
With the expansion of the demand for the services of this specialization, which was linked to many fields, for example (the sports field) and others, in addition to health problems, diseases, and injuries resulting from accidents. There are imperative necessities to develop performance and raise the level of human capabilities and then empower doctors and specialists with tools that help them in carrying out their responsibilities, and also help them in devising new methods of treatment.
 
This is precisely what the Dubai Health Authority is working on, and it is keen to develop all its specialized medical departments in its hospitals, health centers and medical clinic, especially the departments concerned with orthopedics, which the Authority is proud of the elite of the doctors, nurses and technicians, as well as administrators.
 
He said that the Dubai Health Authority, in its hospitals possesses the latest therapeutic means, equipment and techniques, whether in its outpatient clinic, or in operating rooms, which have many smart means and navigational devices that work through artificial intelligence, and other techniques of the fourth industrial revolution.
 
On his part, Dr. Ali Al Suwaidi, President of the Emirates Orthopaedic Society and Congress Chairman, said that the aim of the congress is to present and research the latest treatments used in Orthopaedic diseases, in addition to reviewing the latest innovations and scientific research from around the world during the past year.
 
He stressed on that the congress is a platform in which our doctors participate with doctors from all over the world and receive lectures in accurate specializations, in order to benefit all the participants. It also shows the latest equipment and medical devices in the booth supporting companies for the congress.
 
He pointed out that the topics the congress is focusing on include infections and knee roughness and how to treat the most recent methods of theorizing or replacing the joint in addition to how to deal with complications that may arise after conducting these operations, and discussing new developments in the treatment of sports injuries to the shoulder and knee, especially the ligament tear in both. The discussion will also address how to deal with the failure of the cruciate ligament restoration process.
 
He explained that half a day was devoted to elbow, wrist, and hand injuries, pointing out that these specialties are rare and require expertise and high training, and therefore international experts in this specialty were hosted to highlight some of the diseases spread in the upper end. A full day was devoted to discussing ankle and foot diseases, and for this reason the Society made a great effort in cooperation with international companies to host international experts and distinguished personalities in this specialty from Europe and America.
The congress will revolve as well around the inflammation and roughness of the ankle and foot and the most recent findings of modern science, including innovative treatments and surgical methods, for the repair or replacement of joints in the foot and ankle.
