Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of the Dubai Health Authority, and with the support of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, the city of Dubai will be hosting the 1st Arab Cochlear Implant Conference from the 5th to the 7th of April at the Grand Hyatt, with 1500 attending medical professionals from around the world.
Professor Abdelrahman Hagr, Director of the King Abdullah Specialist Ear Center in Riyadh and Conference Chariman, mentioned: “The mission statement of our profession is that hearing is an essential component of overall health, functioning, and quality of life.”
He added that “This conference will shed light on the issue of ameliorating hearing difficulties faced by the population and calling upon the concerted efforts of not only those in the healthcare sector, but also in the social service, educational, and community service sectors to fulfil this goal. 200 lectures, 26 training sessions, 6 workshops and 3 seminars hosted by Professor Michael Dorman (Honorary Lecturer at the department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at Arizona State University), Professor Thomas Lenarz (Director of the German Hearing Center), and Professor Michael Douglas (Aural Rehabilitation Manager at MEDEL) will take place over the course of the conference, and have all been coordinated in lieu of this goal.
Dr. Hussein Al Rand, Chief of the ECCC Organizing Committee, added that “The first Arab Cochlear Implant Conference is the first conference within this particular medical field to be held in the Middle East, and it is organized for a wide array of healthcare professionals and service providers, and hopes to offer them the most recent updates within the medical field.”
His Excellency Abdulla Bin Souqat, Executive Manager of the Hamdan Medical Award, added that the Award constantly strives to support such important conferences under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as this falls under the organization’s mission statement of furthering progress and development in the medical sciences by encouraging the sharing of information and experiences between practitioners and professionals.
