As part of his efforts and support towards UNESCO, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid opens the main hall in Paris 31 October 2017
Paris-31 October 2017: H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, opened the main conference hall in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization headquarters (UNESCO) in Paris, in the presence of Dr. Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO and representatives of member states of the UN Organization.
 
During his speech in the 39th session of the UNESCO general conference, H.H. said ‘’ The UAE, under the leadership of President H.H Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and H.H Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, encourages all UNESCO`s initiatives on education and culture as well as on the preservation of global human heritage.”
 
“We call upon all the countries to support this organization and enable it to play its role and carry out its mission efficiently’’ H.H added.
 
H.H also stressed on UAE’s commitment to provide all that is needed to enhance the efforts of the organization and its goals, to help UNESCO spread the culture of education, forgiveness and peace among nations through its projects and initiatives, in many regions of the world, especially in the Third World countries.
 
In her inaugural speech at the 39th conference, Dr. Bokova praised the UAE`S support for all programs and projects on education and culture, research and protection of human heritage that are carried out by UNESCO. She also lauded H.H Sheikh Hamadan’s efforts and support towards UNESCO.
 
Earlier, Sheikh Hamdan and Dr. Bokova unveiled the plaque of the conference hall, which was recently renovated at a cost of $6 million, in honor of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan
