Under the auspices of the Hamdan Medical Award: Training 27 specialists to establish a PET/CT facility 14 May 2017
14 May 2017: Under the auspices of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, a workshop started its activities today on the establishment of a PET/CT facility, with the participation of 27 specialists from the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Health Authority-Abu Dhabi, and the UAE Ministry of Health.
 
The five-day training program is held at the Dubai Hospital, and organized by the DHA in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), with the participation of the IAEA’s expert; Mr. Somanesan, Senior Principal Radiation Physicist, Singapore General Hospital.
 
The workshop covers a number of important topics including safety features and radiation protection in the PET/CT units, and the basic principles of the Quality Management in nuclear medicine accreditation.
 
This workshop comes within the framework of the National Program of the Technical Cooperation Projects of the International Atomic Energy Agency on Radiation in Medicine.
