H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid honors the winners of his Medical Award on Wednesday 12 December 2016
United Arab Emirates, Dubai - Monday, December 12, 2016: After tomorrow, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, and Chairman of the Dubai Health Authority, will honor 15 winners of the Hamdan Medical Award. The award ceremony will be held at Rashid Hall, Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, with the attendance of a galaxy of sheikhs, ministers, and officials from the UAE medical and health sectors.
 
Prof. Najib Al Khaja, Secretary General of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, said: By this ceremony, the award concludes its 9th term 2015-2016, which highlights the efforts of top scientists and researchers in the medical field, especially in Gastroenterology. “These scientists achieved a quantum leap in the level of medical and health services globally, regionally and locally”.
 
“In conjunction with the ceremony, the award will organize the 9th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences (9DICMS) from 14 until December 16, at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, Dubai, on Gastroenterology with a focus on the liver, pancreas and colon diseases”.
 
“The conference includes 14 scientific lectures and 12 workshops, accredited by the United Arab Emirates University with 18 CME hours. 14 speakers participate in the conference from the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Australia and the United States of America”.
 
“The conference is organized without papers. Through the "POKEN" technology, the participants will receive the electronic copies of the publications of the conference, and the research papers which will be presented as posters and lectures”.
 
On his part, Professor Hassib Narchi, Professor of Pediatrics and Consultant Pediatrician Department of Pediatrics, College of Medicine & Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University, Al Ain, and the Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the 9DICMS, said: “The conference will be held with the participation of Prof. Harvey Alter, the winner of the Grand Hamdan Award, and the winners of Hamdan Award for Medical Research Excellence namely; Professor Sanford Markowitz, Professor David Tuvson, and Dr. Meritxell Huch”.
 
“The conference discusses a number of important topics such as the Microbiome    
Revolution, Double-balloon enteroscopy in children, Acute Upper Gastrointestinal 
Bleeding in Children, Coeliac Disease in Children, and Investigation and 
Management of Faecal Incontinence”.
 
“Also, the conference will review New Mechanisms of intrahepatic cholestasis, Diagnosis and management of cholestatic liver disease, Surgical management of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours/ Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasms (IPMN) of the Pancreas, role of endoscopy in patients with pancreas with cancer, Alcoholic pancreatitis in the modern era, Pancreatic stellate cells in health and disease, and Contemporary Management of Chronic Pancreatitis”.
