The Arab Society for Islamic civilization and Arts has named H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Minister of Finance and the Patron of Al Maktoum Foundation, the "Civilized personality of the year 2016". On this occasion, Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al Maktoum foundation received his father’s honorary shield from Dr. Mohammed Ali Hassan Zenhom, the society president.

 

This came during the opening ceremony of the 2nd International Conference of Islamic Civilization and Arts, which was held at the Karnak Temple Complex. Luxor, Egypt, entitled "Influences of Human Civilizations", with the participation of delegates from 30 countries around the world.

 

During the ceremony, a film has been screened about the achievements of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum in the humanitarian, charity, education and health fields. The film reviewed the activities of Al Maktoum Foundation throughout 20 years all over the world, particularly in Egypt.

 

Mirza Al Sayegh, a member of the Board of Trustees of Al Maktoum Foundation delivered a speech in which he spoke about such a prestigious award as a symbol of appreciation from all the Egyptian people to the humanitarian work, particularly the achievements of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid in all scientific, cultural and religious fields all over the world. “Fulfilling the needs of Egypt are on the top priorities of Al Maktoum Foundation”, he added.

 

The ceremony was attended by Khalifa Saif Al-Tunaiji, Deputy Ambassador of the UAE in Cairo, a delegation from Al Maktoum Foundation, and a galaxy of Egyptian and Arab top officials and academicians.
