Hamdan Medical Award witnesses honoring the participants in the IAEA’s projects in the UAE 29 May 2016
Dr. Ahmed al-Hashimi and Abdulla bin Souqat, members of the Board of Trustees of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, witnessed the ceremony organized by the Radiation Protection Committee, Department of Medical Education, Dubai Health Authority (DHA), to honor the participants in the activities and projects of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the United Arab Emirates, at the Library building of Rashid Hospital, Dubai. Attended the ceremony was Dr. Ahmed bin Kalban, the CEO of Hospital Services Sector, the Dubai Health Authority. 
 
On this occasion, Dr. Ahmed Al Hashemi praised the fruitful cooperation between the award and the IAEA and the DHA in supporting the scientific projects that aiming at improving the medical services in the UAE in accordance with the highest international standards and to ensure the safety of patients and healthcare professionals.
 
“This ceremony is held in conjunction with concluding the Regional Training Course on PET/CT, held from 22 until May 29, 2016, within the framework of the IAEA’s efforts in strengthening the nuclear medicine applications through education and training to help fighting Non-Communicable Diseases, and in implementing the Cooperative Agreement for Arab States in Asia for Research, Development and Training related to Nuclear Science and Technology (ARASIA)”, he added.
 
 It is noteworthy that participated in this training course were three experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency namely Professor Marcus Hacker, Germany, Dr. Helly Westergren Hendel, Denmark, and Dr. Stefano Vanity, Italy, with the attendance of 27 doctors, technicians, physicists from the fields of nuclear medicine and radiology from the UAE, Iraq, Oman, Yemen, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon.
