Dubai Health Authority honors Hamdan Medical Award 19 May 2016
Dubai, May 19, 2016: H.E. Humaid Al Qatami, the Chairman of the Board and Director General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), honored Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences (HMA). This came during the DHA ceremony for honoring the winners of its Medical Research Award. The ceremony was held at the Conference Centre, Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai, with the attendance of a galaxy of officials from the local research and academic medical institutions.
Prof. Najib Al Khaja, the Secretary General and a member of the Board of Trustees of HMA, dedicated this appreciation to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, the Chairman of Dubai Health Authority, and the Patron of the award, in recognition of his generous and continuous support for developing the UAE medical and health sectors, particularly the HMA.
Also, Prof. Najib Al Khaja extended his gratitude to the DHA for honoring the HMA in recognition of its efforts over more than 17 years of work in supporting the scientific research by all possible means.
Prof. Najib Al Khaja said: “Since its establishment in 1999, Hamdan Medical Award has been the pioneer in this field by honoring the outstanding researchers in the medical arena at the local, regional and global levels, supporting the continuing medical education programs, encouraging the medical publishing in the Hamdan Medical Journal, as well as financing the high-value research projects in the major research and academic institutions within the UAE.
“The award has established the infrastructure for supporting the scientific research within the UAE, which has become in a record time a reference for many research institutions in selecting the subjects of their research, and in implementing and announcing their results for the interested institutions”.
“There is a special interest from the HMA towards the young researchers who are the nucleus of the future research movement in the UAE, in both medical and health sectors”, he added.
“I am so proud of the integration achieved in both the Medical and Health sectors within the UAE by considering the scientific method in designing their strategic plans”, he added.
