H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid honors 275 winners of his Award for Distinguished Academic Performance 21 April 2016
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, honored 275 winners of the 18th term of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance, in a big ceremony held at the Dubai International Convention Centre.
During the ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced that the award has been selected by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States to host the GCC Council of talent, as its permanent headquarters in the UAE.
Also, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan launched the Award’s mobile Fab Lab UAE, whose main aim is to raise the awareness towards applying the creative ideas. Through its visits to schools, universities, and public places, the well-equipped Fab Lab will be a good opportunity for those who would like to practice the digital manufacture.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum paid tribute to the educational community for supporting the award to evolve into an international program for distinguished education based on three pillars; educational excellence, mentoring talented persons, and educational innovation.
Also, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan has given his directives to the award’s board of trustees to reconsider some elements of the award, such as its categories, to support the governmental vision and the strategic plans of the Ministry of Education regarding the establishment of a sustainable knowledge community.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan confirmed that the award has exceeded the expectations and become a milestone in the field of creativity, attracting the related international and regional institutions. 
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan said: "Through its significant standards and initiatives, the award effectively plays an important role in supporting the educational process. Also, for establishing a significant educational community, the award has launched a bundle of initiatives, coping up with the ambitions of our wise leaderships, to support creativity, gifted welfare, knowledge, and development”.
“The Award’s updated international standards contribute in improving the educational system in line with the UAE strategy and the contemporary changes", H.H. Sheikh Hamdan added.
The ceremony was attended by H.H Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Saeed bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award, H.E. Matar Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DEWA , Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director General of Dubai Health Authority, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA , Dr. Jamal Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the Awards, Dr. Ali Al Qarni, Director General of Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, Dr. Alaa Abdul Bari, Vice President of the Arab League's Arab Academy for Maritime Transport, and a number of experts and educators from GCC and European universities.
