Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum: The 12th Emirates Critical Care Conference starts its activities in Dubai 07 April 2016
Thursday, 7 April 2016, Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the UAE Minister of Finance; H.E. Humaid Al Quitami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, and the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hamdan Medical Award, opened today morning the 12th Emirates Critical Care Conference (ECCC 2016).
 
The 3-days conference is organized by the Pan Arab critical care Medicine Society in collaboration with the Dubai Health Authority, the Dubai Tourism, and Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences. Also, the conference is supported by the World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine (WFSICCM), and Emirates Intensive Care Society (EICS).
 
Attended the opening ceremony which was held at the Event Center, Dubai Festival City, Abdullah bin Souqat, a member of the Board of Trustees of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, in addition to more than 1,200 doctors and specialists. 
 
On the fringe of the opening ceremony; Abdullah bin Souqat said: “The conference accommodates 4 main meetings namely; the 8th Asia Africa Conference of the World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine, the 12th International Pan Arab critical care medicine society conference, the 3rd Middle East Surviving Sepsis Campaign meeting, and the 2nd Global Sepsis Alliance-Middle East Awareness Day”. 
 
“The Award is proud to organize such an annual important event which has witnessed a remarkable development over years to become an exceptional and unprecedented opportunity for effective communication among intensive care specialists from all over the world, on the light of the latest international standards in this field of medicine”, he added.
 
“A number of intensive care societies participate in the conference including those in Scotland, Britain, Germany, Belgium, Turkey Thailand, Korea, Hong Kong, Nepal, Pakistan, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Australia, New Zealand, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, and Tunisia’, he said.
 
“We have coordinated with the organizers and sponsors of the conference in order to be held annually in conjunction with the first part of the exam of the European Diploma in intensive care medicine (the written exam), under the Patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences”, he said. 
 
For his part; Prof. Hussain Nasser Al Rahma, the president of the 12th ECCC, the President of the Pan Arab Critical Care Medicine Society, and the Emirates Intensive Care Society, and the head of the Critical Care Department, Dubai Hospital, announced that the conference is held with the participation of 155 speakers to present 179 lectures, 6 workshops, and 4 hands-on courses. “The scientific program of the conference is accredited from the UAE Ministry of Health by 18 CME credit hours”, he said.
 
“45 posters will be presented in the conference, and the best 10 papers will be honored” he said.
 
“The conference discusses many important topics such as Cardiology & Circulatory System Monitoring in ICU, Neuro Critical Care, Pediatric Critical Care, Sedation & Analgesia in ICU, Hematology & Oncology Critical Care, Fluid Management & Hemodynamic monitoring, Respiratory System& Mechanical Ventilation, Nursing Critical Care, and Nutrition & Pharmacology in ICU.
 
“Important events will be held on the fringe of the conference, such as a meeting between the DHA officials and the members of the Federation of intensive care in Australia, to discuss the Australia -New Zealand system in evaluating and developing intensive care units”, Prof. Hussain Nasser al Rahma said.
 
“Also, the members of the Global Sepsis Alliance and the Global Sepsis Campaign will hold meetings with specialists from the lower-income countries for exchanging knowledge about their experiences in addressing and managing Sepsis at the lowest cost, and about the related global guidelines”, he said.
