UAE University honors Hamdan Medical Award 27 May 2015
The United Arab Emirates University honored the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences in recognition of the award’s efforts in supporting many activities of the University such as the scientific research, the continuing medical education programs in addition to the medical publishing for studies conducted by the students in special supplements in the Hamdan Medical Journal.
 
This came during the ceremony organized by the UAE University, to honor the strategic partners, under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the President of the University, at St. Regis Hotel, Abu Dhabi - Corniche.
 
During the ceremony, Prof. Mohammed Al Biali, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (Provost), delivered a memorial gift to Dr. Ahmed al-Hashemi, a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Hamdan Medical Award, with the attendance of Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat, the Executive Director. 
On this occasion, Dr. Ahmed al-Hashemi expressed his gladness for honoring the award from one of the most prestigious educational and research centers in the UAE. “The Emirati graduates of the university are well-qualified and a part from the development process”, he said.
 
“The keenness of the award to support the distinguished educational and research institutions within the UAE, by all possible means, comes out of the award's belief in sciences as the main gate towards the nations' progress and prosperity”, he added. 
 
“Till October 2013, the faculties of the UAE University, mainly the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, have finalized 51 studies supported by the Hamdan Medical Award at a cost up to 7 million AED. These studies have focused on a number of important healthcare issues in the UAE, and their results have played a vital role in supporting the decision-making process”, Dr. Ahmed al-Hashemi added.
