Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences supported the 6th Gulf Thoracic Congress held at the Grand Hayatt Hotel. The 4-days congress was organized by the Emirates Allergy and Respiratory Society (EARS) and the Saudi Thoracic Society (STS), in Collaboration with the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the European Respiratory Society (ERS), The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA, The Royal Brompton Hospital, UK, and Alfaisal University, Saudi Arabia. 

Wide spectrum of medical topics related to thoracic medicine was discussed in the congress such as Asthma/ Allergy& immunology, Thoracic Imaging, Thoracic Surgery, Thoracic Oncology, Pediatric Pulmonology, Lung Cancer, Respiratory Care, Sleep Medicine, Pulmonary Hypertension and Critical Care Medicine.
