Prof. Najib Al Khaja, Secretary General of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences declared that the Award will organize the 8th Dubai International conference for Medical Sciences (DICMS) during the period from 15 until December 17 to discuss four main topics namely; Drug Discovery, Vaccines, Targeted Therapy and Cell Therapy.

 

“The 15th of September 2014 will be the deadline for submitting the abstracts, can be submitted through the website of the conference http://www.hmaward.org.ae/conf, which will be nominated to be presented during the conference as poster presentations”, he said.

 

It was declared after the first meeting of the Scientific Committee of the Conference which was recently held under the chairmanship of Prof. Sherif Karam, Professor of Anatomy, College of Medicine & Health Sciences (CMHS), UAE University. The meeting was attended by the members of the scientific committee including Prof. Tahir Rizvi from the Department of Medical Microbiology & Immunology, CMHS, UAE University, Dr. Salman Ashraf, Department of Chemistry, College of Science, UAE University, Dr. Asma Al Menhali, Department of Biology, College of Science, UAE University, Prof. Firdos Alam Khan, Department of Biotechnology, Manipal University, Dubai, Dr. Ahmed El Serafy, Department of Biochemistry, University of Sharjah, Dr. Sung Mun Lee, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, and Dr. Omar Shafey, Director, Zayed Complex for Herbal Research, Abu Dhabi.

 

“The topics of the conference are consistent with the topics of Hamdan international awards in the current term 2013-2014. Whereas Drug discovery is the topic of Grand Hamdan International Award, Vaccines, Targeted therapy and Cell therapy are the topics of Hamdan International Award for Medical Research Excellence”, Prof. Najib Al Khaja said.

 

“The winners of these awards will be the keynote speakers of the 8th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences. They will present the latest findings in these fields of medicine, and their contributions are to play a vital role in enriching the scientific program of the conference”, he added.

 

“Because of the recent breakthrough in the medical research on the topics to be discussed during the conference, a huge boom in the course of the medical treatments will be witnessed within the near future. Accordingly, many professionals and doctors are expected to participate in the conference from the local and regional levels”, he added.

 

It is worth mentioning that the Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences, organized by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, is held every 2 years at the end of each term and following the Award Ceremony. The conference is a significant platform to exchange the winners' knowledge with the local, regional and international health care professionals, and plays a vital role in supporting the Award’s message and its seek towards achieving the Medical Excellence.
