H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid opens DEWA’s Warsan Complex and Al Qusais Control Centre 23 January 2014
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, and President of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), officially opened DEWA’s Warsan Complex and Al Qusais Control Centre to meet the needs of urban-expansion projects and growing demand for electricity and water services at the highest levels of quality, reliability, and sustainability.
 
The opening ceremony was attended by a galaxy of ministers, directors of government departments, presidents of councils, senior officials from the UAE ministries, members of press and senior officials from the DEWA.
 
“DEWA’s projects are the life, essence and backbone of Dubai’s infrastructure. DEWA provides world-class services at the highest levels of reliability, quality and best international practices and technologies, to ensure the continuity of electricity and water services and achieve sustainable development in the UAE,” H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum said.
 
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan reviewed the details of the DEWA’s Warsan Complex which spreads over 650,159 sq ft, and includes two transmission and distribution control centers, and an administrative building capable of accommodating up to 2,350 employees, among other facilities.
 
On the other hand, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan remotely opened the DEWA’s Al Qusais Control Centre, at a cost of AED 29 million. The Centre consists of two floors and includes distribution, planning, and coordination departments, a library, the Distribution Research and Development department, a simulator, and on-site distribution management.
