Centre for Arab Genomic Studies at The Second Annual Scientific Research Forum; University of Sharjah, 2-3 May 2006 23 May 2006
The Centre for Arab Genomic Studies (A Division of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences) participated in the events of the "Second Annual Scientific Research Forum" at University of Sharjah on 2-3 May 2006. The forum was having an exhibition of the various colleges of the Unversity.
 
H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, Supreme President of the University of Sharjah, inaugurated the Scientific Exhibition, along with Dr. Ismail Al Bishri, President of University of Sharjah. 
 
H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan had an elaborate visit in the Scientific Exhibition. He was briefly accompanied by H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Education. 
 
H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan visited the exhibition stand of the Centre for Arab Genomic Studies and listened to a briefing by Dr. Ghazi Omar Tadmouri, Assistant Director of the Centre, on the various achievements of CAGS, including the CTGA database for genetic disorders in the UAE and other Arab populations, the prevailing number of genetic disorders in the UAE, and the recent formation of the Arab Council of CAGS and its expected missions.
 
The Centre for Arab Genomic Studies was the center point of attraction since it was the only guest exhibitor in the exhibition and presented publications of wide general interest on Genetic disorders in Arabs, especially Thalassemia. Many of the attendees of the CAGS stand were included Deans of faculties, professors, lecturers, students, and media.
