Enhancing Efforts To Support Continuing Medical Education: Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Award For Medical Sciences Participates In Organizing “Heart Failure Dubai 2010” 15 February 2010
"Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences" participates in organizing the Conference entitled “Heart Failure, Dubai 2010", which will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in the Festival City from 18th to 20th of February. The conference will be held in collaboration with Dubai Heart Center at Dubai Hospital, Dubai Health Authority, and the Heart failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology. The conference will be attended by around 500 doctors and nurses from more than 20 Arab and foreign countries. The conference will discuss the most important research papers which were conducted in Europe concerning heart failure in terms of diagnosis, treatment and nursing.
 
Abdullah bin Souqat Mr. "Abdullah bin Souqat" the Executive Director of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al- Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences said that organizing such conferences is within the context of holding a series of heart diseases conferences by the award in collaboration with the Heart Center at Dubai Hospital over the past eleven years which is the lifetime of the award. Upgrading medical services and ensuring its highest levels of efficiency is one of the most important strategic objectives of the award. This is achieved through various activities such as supporting continuing medical education programs of conferences, seminars and workshops in the United Arab Emirates in order to ensure training and qualification for all workers in medical sector.
 
Mr. Abdullah bin Souqat added "the award is interested in such programs that offers direct practical training for workers in the health sector, as reflected in the quality of their performance and achieving international standards in the medical services. Eight lectures will be held during the” Heart Failure Dubai 2010” to discuss the latest research papers, in addition of holding four workshops for physicians and nurses, thus contributing to their practical training on the latest methods of diagnosis, treatment and care for patients with heart failure ".
 
Nooshin Bazargani Dr "Nooshin Bazargani" President of the Organizing Committee of the “heart failure Dubai 2010” said that Heart Failure is a chronic disease resulting from the inability of the heart to pump requirements of blood and oxygen supply to the body. It is often the result of heart attacks, Diabetes and old age. Advances in treatment heart disease have allowed more people to survive potentially fatal heart disease, but has resulted in increased numbers of heart failure. Uncontrolled heart failure results in decreased ability to return to normal activity, frequent hospitalization and diminishes quality of life. The aim of this conference is to improve the treatment of heart failure overall and increase the awareness of these growing health problem. Heart failure is a leading cause of admission for most of patients in UAE and worldwide.
 
Dr. "Nooshin Bazargani" added that heart failure is a growing problem to be dealt by medical staff, insurance companies and even government, as it has a significant impact on the individual and society. The conference will deal with several topics such as health care to be provided to the patient, in addition to the interaction of heart failure with diabetes, coronary artery disease and Anemia. The conference will also discuss treatment of heart failure which is not only medical, but surgical too. The use of implanted electronic devices to prevent sudden death and improve quality of life is also a main topic of the conference.
