5TH Gulf Vascular Society Conference Concludes Its Sessions 06 March 2011
The conference recommends building up the 2nd raw of GCC vascular surgeons
Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and the patron of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, the activities of the 5TH Gulf Vascular Society Conference, which was held in conjunction with the 5th scientific meeting of the Saudi Society for Vascular Surgery, concluded its sessions last Thursday at InterContinental hotel - Dubai Festival City.
 
 
 
Dr. Younis Kazim, the president of the Conference said that the recommendations of the conference includes updating the database of actual cardiovascular diseases in the GCC, in order to determine the size of the problem in order to put appropriate plans to overcome the dangers arising from these diseases in the region.
 
Dr. Younis Kazim said that the Conference has also stressed the importance of establishing strong guideline lines management for vascular diseases in the Gulf region.
 
He said that the conference participants has stressed the need of more attention to scientific research conducted in the field of vascular surgery, as well as encouraging fresh doctors to specialize in the surgery of blood vessels and facilitate their access to appropriate training in order to prepare the second row of vascular surgeons in the region.
 
The conference has also recommended the need of enhancing communications among GCC surgeons, in order to transfer local experience among them for the benefit of GCC countries.
 
The participants recommended developing public awareness programs concerning cardiovascular disease in general and diabetic foot in particular, and putting an appropriate strategy for those campaigns to achieve desired objectives.
 
During the closing ceremony of the conference Dr. Younis Kazim has honored all those who have contributed to the success of the conference, led by Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat the Executive Director of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, Dr. Mosaed Al Salman, the President of the Saudi Society for Vascular Surgery and the conference’s speakers including senior surgeons from the GCC countries, North America and Europe.
 
On the sidelines of the conference, the Gulf Vascular society held its meeting during which its future plans concerning supporting Vascular Surgery in GCC countries in the coming years were discussed, and the ways of promoting cooperation among GCC countries for the advancement of this field.
