Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences participates in the 17th GCC Stamps Exhibition in Abu Dhabi 05 April 2011
Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences participates in the 17th GCC Postal Exhibition which is held on the sidelines of the 25th meeting of Heads and Under Secretaries of Postal services in Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and organized by UAE Post in cooperation with the Emirates' Philatelic Society, during 4-9 April 2011 at Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi. 
 
During the exhibition, the award’s coin-formed medal is presented. The medal is registered in the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest medal in 2008 after breaking the record set in 1986 for the Canadian Medal. 
 
Following the opening, Abdullah bin Souqat, Executive Director of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, said that the award is keen on supporting important activities in UAE generally, and activities that contribute to increase the peoples’ awareness of the Gulf region and UAE history particularly. 
 
“The medal was presented as a souvenir to the patron of the award H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, on the occasion of the 10TH anniversary of launching the award which is considered a milestone in the human history”, he said while talking about the purpose of manufacturing the medal.
 
He said that on the silver 185.88 kilo grams medal, which is plated with a layer of 22 carat gold with a diameter of one meter and thickness of 2.3 cm, a photo of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and the patron of the award, is engraved on one side while the logo of the 10th anniversary of the award is engraved on the other side. 
Bin Souqat added that the medal is an artwork which embodies the leadership of the UAE people in all fields of innovation and reflects their interest in documenting the history of important institutions which is supporting the society.
