Dubai Department Of Tourism And Commerce Marketing Honors SHAMS 30 May 2011
Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing's Dubai Convention Bureau has honored Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences (SHAMS) regarding to its contribution in attracting international conferences to Dubai through the department's program Al Safeer (the ambassador).
 
 
 
The honorary ceremony was held at Dubai Raffles Hotel and attended by Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat the Award's Executive Director and Dr. Ghazi Tadmoury Assistant Director of the Award's Centre for Arab Genomic Studies (CAGS), who have been delivered the honorary shield from Mr. Hamad M Bin Mejren Executive Director for Business Tourism in Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.
 
Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat Executive Director of SHAMS said that he is so proud and pleased with this honor, which encourages the award's staff to exert more efforts in the future.
He also noted that, in cooperation with Dubai Convention Bureau, the Award's Centre for Arab Genomic Studies has succeeded to hold Human Genome Meeting 2011 in Dubai (14th to 17th of March 2011) as the first time to be held in an Arab country.
 
On the other side, Mr. Hamad M Bin Mejren Executive Director for Business Tourism in Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing congratulated the Award.
Also, in his speech during the ceremony, he said that in recognition of cooperation between the department and public and private sectors many international conferences were attracted to be held in Dubai which has contributed to support Dubai economy and put it on map as a destination for business tourism regarding to its unique location and infrastructure.
