The meeting was held at the Award’s headquarters in Bur Dubai, and attended by Dr. Ahmed Al-Hashemi Member of the Award’s Board of Trustees, Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat Executive Director of the Award, Dr. Mansoor Mohammed Yousuf Nadhari Head of Department of Anesthesia and pain management, Trauma center in Rashid Hospital and Dr. Philippe Macaire consultant anesthetist, Trauma center.
During the meeting, Prof. Najib Al Khaja, reviewed the objectives of the Award and its important role in supporting the health sector locally and internationally, not only by honoring world excellent personalities working in the medical field, but also through supporting excellent medical research papers and medical publishing.
He also reviewed supporting continuing medical education by the Award in order to develop the performance of workers in UAE health sector, through organizing international medical conferences.
Also, Prof. Al Khaja referred to the Award’s Centre for Arab Genomic Studies (CAGS) which plays an outstanding role in supporting human genetics in the Arab world, through conducting scientific research papers, organizing awareness programs and establishing the largest updated Catalogue for Transmission Genetics in Arabs database (CTGA).
On the other hand H.E. Eric Giraud-Telme, French Consul-General in Dubai, praised the efforts exerted by the Award’s patron H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of Dubai Health Authority, in supporting the health sector within UAE. He also admired the Award’s role in upgrading local and international health sectors.
“The constructive cooperation between the Award and University of Montpellier, France, through organizing the Post Graduate Regional Anesthesia Diploma in Dubai, is highly appreciated. The diploma is a unique educational program in the Arab world. Such cooperation should be invested in the future through strengthening bonds of cooperation between the two sides”, the French Consul-General in Dubai said.
It is worth mentioning that Regional Anesthesia Diploma has started last January in Dubai, in collaboration with Trauma Centre, Rashid Hospital, with participation of 31 Anesthetists and Intensive Care and Emergency doctors from UAE, Qatar, Oman and Kenya.
The excellent management of the Diploma by Dr. Philippe Macaire Consultant anesthetist, trauma center, Rashid hospital, is considered a highly important factor of its success.
A group of excellent lecturers have participated in the diploma including senior doctors and consultant anesthetist at Faculty of Medicine, Sharjah University, Rashid Hospital, Al Wasl Hospital, Zayed Military Hospital and Tawam Hospital.
Besides holding lectures, workshops and training courses at UAE and France hospitals, the Diploma has used the latest technologies such as closed-circuit television to communicate with senior anesthesiologists in many French universities.
It is expected that the graduation ceremony will be held next September in Dubai, in the presence of senior officials from University of Montpellier, France, during which the award will put the final touches for an agreement of bilateral cooperation.
