SHAMS signs collaborative declaration agreement with the University Montpellier1, France 03 September 2011
A delegation representing Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences (SHAMS) has returned back from France after signing a collaborative declaration agreement with the prestigious European university of Montpellier1.
 
 
The agreement’s terms include conducting the diplomas of the University of Montpellier1 in Dubai on various medical specialties and especially on Clinical Research Methodology, Pediatric Anesthesiology and intensive care.
 
Also, the two sides have agreed upon the details of the regional anesthesia diploma’s graduation ceremony, which is scheduled to be held nearly in Dubai and attended by a galaxy of senior doctors, health sector’s officials as well as senior officials from the University of Montpellier1, France. 
 
The delegation included Prof. Najib Al Khaja, Secretary General of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, Dr. Ahmed Al Hashemi a member of the award’s Board of Trustees and Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat Executive Director of the award.
 
The attendees of the signing ceremony, at the headquarter of the University Montpellier1, included Dr. Philippe Auge, President of the University Montpellier 1, Dr.Jacques Mercier, Vice president of the University Montpellier 1 and Director of Research, Dr. Jean Paul Fernandez, Vice president of the University Montpellier 1 and Director of Foreign relation and Prof.Xavier Capdevila, the University Montpellier1 coordinator, in addition to Dr. Philippe Macaire Consultant in trauma center’s Anesthesia department at Rashid Hospital in Dubai.
 
This was stated by Prof. Najib Al Khaja, Secretary General of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, who said that he is so proud to support ways of cooperation between the award and the University Montpellier1, which comes in line with the general strategy of the award concerning developing health sectors inside and outside UAE through applying the latest standards of medical performance.
 
Prof. Al Khaja said that the agreement will open broad prospects for doctors in various medical specialties, as it helps them to save a lot of time, money and effort while getting such diplomas from the European universities.
