"Tomorrow, the students of the 2nd batch of Anesthesia and Analgesia Diploma, a post graduate diploma from the French University of Montpellier 1, will start their classes at Ibn Sina Medical Centre in Dubai Healthcare City. 38 doctors from Middle East, Switzerland, Cyprus, and Philippines will attend the classes for the next six months, three days per month. The diploma is organized by the prestigious Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences and supported by Dubai Health Authority", said by Prof. Najib Al Khaja, Secretary General of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences. 
 
Prof. Najib Al Khaja added that holding such Diploma in Dubai comes within the framework of signing the official agreement between the award and Montpellier 1 University, France. The agreement gives the award the right to organize a number of medical diplomas, from the university, on a number of medical specialties, including Clinical Research Methodology, Anesthesia and Intensive Care. 
 
"On Monday evening, the graduates of the 1st batch of the Diploma (2011) will be honored in a big ceremony, including 31 doctors from UAE, Qatar, Oman and Kenya, at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai. The ceremony is expected to be attended by officials from consulate- General of France in Dubai, French University of Montpellier 1, managers and heads of sectors of Ministry of Health and Dubai Health Authority and the members of the Award’s Board of Trustees and scientific committees", Al Khaja said.
 
Al Khaja pointed out that the agreement provides training courses for doctors and specialists from all over the region and the world, with the aim of improving the medical services.
 
"The Award’s rich history and its leading role in developing health practices, locally and globally, have led to selecting the award as a strategic partner of the university", Al Khaja said.
 
On the other hand, Dr. Mansoor Mohammed Yousef Nadhiri, consultant at Anaesthesia and Pain management department at Dubai Rashid Hospital and Director of the program said that he is so proud of the strategic partnership between Montpellier 1University and Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, which is supported scientifically and practically by Dubai Health Authority.
 
He added that the excellent medical infrastructure of DHA, including the updated medical institutions and centers and the qualified medical staff, has enhanced the award’s efforts in this regard. 
 
Also, Dr. Nadhiri praised the scientific program of the diploma, which is run under direct supervision of Montpellier 1University, France.
 
"The diploma’s scientific program is based on the actual program of Faculty of Medicine, Montpellier 1University. Also, a management program, for medical institutions where Anaesthesiologists work when possible, is added to the scientific program of the diploma. Lectures and workshops are held at hospitals in UAE and France. A one year scholarship in Montpellier 1 University is included", Dr. Nadhiri added. "The diploma includes practical training courses on updated techniques of regional anesthesia, including local anesthesia, acroanesthesia and Central anesthesia", he said. 
 
Dr. Nadhiri said that Montpellier 1 University is one of the oldest and most important European universities, established in 1289. The university is keen to support bonds of cooperation with health institutions all over the world, through exchanging faculty members and scientific programs so as to enhance its mission in improving medical fields for the best of humanity. "The university has launched its Diploma on regional anesthesia and analgesia in France in 2000, from which About 300 doctors and specialists all over the world were graduated", he said.
