Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum: 4TH Biennial Emirates Physiotherapy Conference honored Hamdan Medical Award 22 May 2012
Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, and President of Dubai Health Authority, the 4th Biennial Emirates Physiotherapy Conference (Physio Dubai 2012) honored Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, in recognition of its tireless efforts in supporting the Continuing Medical Education, locally and internationally, particularly the conference.
 
During the conference’s Closing Ceremony, held at Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel, Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat, Executive Director, Hamdan Medical Award, received the conference’s memento from Dr. Emma Stokes, Vice President, World Confederation for Physical Therapy, Dr. Amal Al Shamlan, Chairperson, the conference’s Organizing Committee, Naima Saleh - Director Clinical Support Services, Latifa Hospital, and Dr. Abduladheem Kamkar, president and Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Conference.
 
"Such honor is a recognition of the Award’s tireless efforts in implementing the strategy developed by the  Patron of the Award, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims at achieving the excellence in medical sectors", Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat said.
On the other hand, Dr. Abduladheem Kamkar praised the efforts exerted by the Award in improving the health sectors. Also, he expressed his pride for hosting the World Congress on Low Back and Pelvic Pain 2013 in Dubai, held for the 1st time in the Middle East.
 
Physio Dubai 2012 was organized by Emirates Physiotherapy Society and Dubai Health Authority, and supported by Hamdan Medical Award, UAE Ministry of Health, World Federation of Physical Therapy, Dubai Convention Bureau, and Dubai Equine Hospital.
 
The 2-day conference discussed many important topics such as the recent trends in the physical therapy for shoulder, foot and ankle injuries, rehabilitation of injured hamstrings and Ligaments around the knee, and the treatment of nerve mobilization.
 
The Conference also discussed the developments in the field of Physical Therapy worldwide, which has become a primary health care service and expanded to be a part of the preventive medicine.
 
It is worthy to mention that the conference attended by more than 500 professionals including Physiotherapists, Sports Physicians, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Rehabilitation and Health Care Professionals, Neurologists and Neurosurgeons, and Family Physicians.
