H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid supports 'Al Gaffal' Dhow Sailing Race 26 May 2012
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of Dubai Health Authority, opened the activities of the 22nd version of "Al Gaffal" traditional 60-foot Dhow Sailing Race, started from Sir Bu Nair Island and finished near Burj Al Arab hotel, with participation of 101 dhows.
 
After the Opening Ceremony of the race, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid received a set of framed stamps from Abdullah Mohammed Al Ashram, CEO, Emirates Post, on the occasion of releasing the commemorative stamps on the race, along with a Souvenir Sheet and First Day Cover.
 
At the end of the race, H.H. Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum honored the winners, at the stage of Dubai International Marine Club, with the attendance of a galaxy of UAE senior officials.
 
It is worthy to mention that, Al Gaffal race commemorates the festival which was celebrated by the forefathers on their long journey after several months of pearl diving at sea. The race is held annually under the patronage and the support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as a part of the valuable efforts exerted by him in supporting the national identity and reviving the UAE heritage.
