Hamdan Medical Award Launches the Health Economics Diploma approved from the University of Washington 28 May 2013
On behalf of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, Chairman of Dubai Health Authority and Patron of Hamdan Medical Award, Engineer Eissa Al Maidoor, Director General of Dubai Health Authority and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Award has launched the Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment Diploma at Al Murooj Rotana Hotel, Dubai. For the first time in the Middle East, the Diploma is organized by Hamdan Medical Award in collaboration with the University of Washington with the participation of 25 decision-makers from the health institutions within the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait and supported by Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Middle East and Africa. 
 
Eissa Al Maidoor delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees and praised the scientific program of the Diploma which goes in line with the strategic objectives of Dubai Government, particularly those related to developing the provided healthcare services.
 
Al Maidoor pointed out to the efforts exerted by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences in cooperation with the world outstanding scientific academic institutions to develop the performance of healthcare professionals locally, regionally and internationally", he said.
 
Also, Prof. Najib Al Khaja delivered a speech in which he said: "Supporting such scientific programs approved by major academic institutions is one of the main objectives of the Award. The Health Economics Diploma confirms the Award’s efforts towards improving the abilities of healthcare professionals which will be reflected on making sound decisions in order to improve the medical institutions and the provided healthcare services. 
Dr. Karl Lintel, Vice president of Bristol-Myers Squibb Middle East and Africa, delivered a speech in which he thanked H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his unlimited support for the Hamdan Medical Award. "Such support has contributed to strengthening the capacity of the Award in upgrading the health sectors locally, regionally and internationally", he said.
 
"Our mission is to help patients prevail over serious diseases in a manner that contributes to economic growth, social responsibility and a healthy environment now and in the future. We support our environment, health and safety (EHS) programs seeking for a better world", he said. 
 
It is worth mentioning that the Health Economics Diploma includes three modules. The first one is held from 28 to 30 May, and the second one will be held from 29 to 31 October and the third one from 19 till 21 November.
