In conjunction with the Award Ceremony: Hamdan Medical Award holds 7th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences in December 06 November 2012
Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences will hold the 7th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences from 10 to 12 December 2012, at Dubai International Convention Centre on Neonatal & Fetal Medicine, Nutrition in Infancy and Inborn Errors of Metabolism, with the participation of a constellation of the pioneers of Pediatrics and gynecology and obstetrics in America, Europe and Australia. The conference participants will receive 18 CME credit hours from Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Al-Ain University.
 
Abdullah Bin Souqat, Executive Director, Hamdan Medical Award, said that the conference will be held in conjunction with the Award Ceremony, on 10th of December evening, in which the winners of the 7th term of the Award 2011-2012 will be honored in the presence of the Patron H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Chairman of Dubai Health Authority.
 
“7th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences deals with many important lectures, including the lecture by H.E. Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, KSA Minister of Health and a winner of Hamdan Award for Distinguished Personalities in the Arab World. His lecture will deal with the Saudi National Program for Conjoined Twins, which is being held under the sponsorship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz”, Bin Souqat said.
 
“Dr. Al-Rabeeah is the head of the Surgical and Multidisciplinary Team of the program, launched in 1990 and reviewed 69 sets of conjoined twins from 17 countries, from which 30 sets have been successfully separated; including 3 sets of parasitic twins”, he added.
 
“Dr. Al-Rabeeah is a prominent figure in that rare specialization all over the world. His first shot to fame came after his intricate operation on conjoined twins which he did for the first time on 31st of Dec 1990 at King Faisal Specialist Hospital, Riyadh”, Bin Souqat added.
 
“Also, He has obtained international expertise in handling pancreatic diseases in infants, including the supervision of 65 such cases”, he added.
 
“Alongside with his responsibilities as KSA Minister of Health, from February 2009 and presently, Dr. Al-Rabeeah has contributed in upgrading the healthcare services in the Arab countries, particularly in the Gulf region. He occupies many important positions inside and outside KSA. He is a Consultant Pediatric Surgeon at King Abdulaziz Medical City, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Riyadh, and King Abdul Aziz Medical City, Jeddah.  Also, he is an Honorary Professor in Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, University of Liverpool”, he added.
 
“Dr. Al-Rabeeah graduated from Faculty of Medicine, King Saud University, in 1979. He is a holder of many certificates and fellowships, including M.Sc. in Surgical Sciences from Alberta University, Canada, Fellowship of Pediatric Surgery from Alberta University (Dec 1986), and Fellowship of General Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons, Canada (Dec 1986). He has more than 60 published papers in numerous medical journals. He has more than 68 abstracts for a variety of national and international medical conferences, symposia, workshops, etc”, Bin Souqat Said
 
Abdullah Bin Souqat referred to the scientific program of the 7TH Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences by saying: the conference includes, during December 11 and 12, four scientific sessions and 16 lectures on many important topics such as Fetal Surgery, Optimal O2 Saturation, Sonographic Approach for Antenatal Detection of Congenital Heart Diseases, Preeclampsia and Maternal Cardiac Function, Short Bowel Syndrome, Infant Feeding and the Risk of Later Obesity, Metabolism in the Neonatal Period, and DNA Testing in 2012 (A Practical Utility Guide). 
 
On Dec. 10, the conference will host 12 workshops on Neonatal Resuscitation, Antenatal Detection of Congenital Heart Diseases, Successful Weaning and Extubation, Emergency Management of Inborn Errors of Metabolism in the Newborn Period, Treatment of Fetal Infection, Epigenetics, Biochemistry of the Newborn and Pre-mature Infant Implications for Treatment and Management, Multiple Pregnancies, Evidence Base for Various Neonatal Screening Programs and Nutritional Support of the Extremely Low Birth Weight Neonate.
