Research solve new and existing problems, confirm facts, reaffirm the results of previous work, research is the backbone of scientific progress. Realizing the importance of research, Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum Award for Medical Science has taken an active interest in fostering and promoting medical research in the United Arab Emirates. The objective of providing this grant is to encourage excellence in performance among researchers within the country and to contribute to the development of the field of medical science by supporting scientific research with the necessary resources. Till date the foundation has funded and supported over 80 projects from diverse disciplines since 2000

For the 9th biennial awards for the years 2015-2016 the grant worth will be AED Two million (AED 2,000,000), with a maximum of AED 200,000 for an individual project.
