Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences declared that 3rd Pan Arab Human Genetics Conference will be held on 13TH and 14TH of March under the title "Genomic Healthcare", at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Dubai.

 

The conference, organized by the Award’s Center for Arab Genomic Studies (CAGS), will be attended by a galaxy of doctors, decision makers, academics, nurses and technicians. Dr. Najib Al Khaja, Secretary General of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences and President of the Conference, said that ways of cooperation among Arab Geneticists in the future will be discussed during the conference. He added that the Arab countries have a wealth of geneticists whose efforts must be unified to alleviate pain of many patients within the region.

 

Dr. Mahmoud Taleb Al Ali, chairman of the Conference’s Scientific Committee and Director of CAGS, said that the end of January has been identified as the deadline for receiving participated research papers which will be reviewed according to the international standards. He added that the activities of the conference could be divided into three main parts. The first of which is discussing research papers through three main sessions. The first session deals with identifying Genetic Disorders through prenatal diagnosis, pre-implementation Genetic Diagnosis, and birth defects. The second session is on using modern technology in healthcare. As for the third session, it will deal with the economic and ethical challenges of genomic applications.

 

As for the second part of the Conference a special meeting , is to be held on the second day of the conference, entitled open clinic, in which many cases of rare genetic disorders will be discussed. This meeting will be a good opportunity for doctors to discuss the latest techniques of diagnosis and treatment. The third part of the conference is the Arabic seminar entitled "Role of Media in Genetic Literacy" on 14th of March. It is worth mentioning that an exhibition will be held in conjunction with the conference, in which the latest technologies of Genetic Medicine will be exhibited.
